Ras Nas live at Oslo Mela 2007 |

{mosimage}Ras Nas is one of the headliners at this year's Oslo Mela. Ras Nas, who is currently puting finishing touches to his forthcoming album "Dar es Salaam", will appear with his full band plus dancers. "The band will also feature musicians from Dar es Salaam, a full horn section and background singers to spice up the show", says Ras Nas aka Nasibu Mwanukuzi. This will be the third time Ras Nas participates at Oslo Mela. In 2005 Ras Nas featured the Norwegian blues and jazz guitarit and singer, Knut Reiersrud. The following year, Ras Nas appeared as part of Mandingo Trio in a musical project "Ngoma Rhythms" which included Tanzanian bassist Keppy Kiombile from the Kilimanjaro Band and Knut Reiersrud.
This year's Oslo Mela festival will take place at Oslo's City Square - Rådhusplassen, from 17th to 19th August. Oslo Mela is one of the biggest festivals in Scandinavia. Last year the festival attracted a crowd of 300 000 in a course of three days. The festival, organised by the Horisont Foundation, is in its fifth year and features highly reputed artists from Asia, Africa Latin America and Europe.
